I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a pack-rat, in fact I hate junk and clutter. However I seem to have problems parting with some of the most random things. As I pack I am discovering how difficult it can be to throw something out, even though I have no use for this stuff, I don't seem to want to permanently get rid of it. The most difficult was going through boxes at my parents which have items from elementary on. From old homework assignments and notes from friends to lunchboxes, pots and retainers I have had to make some difficult decisions. Here are some of the items tossed and items still saved, even though I don't know what to do with them.
1. Mine and Anne's old retainers. I really struggled to throw these out because I laughed for days after I found them, and part of me thought I should consult with Anne before tossing them since together we decided it was a good idea for our retainers to retire to the same case so they could be friends forever... Sorry Anne, I saved them for a week with the intentions of giving them to you, but ultimately decided there was no use for an old gross retainer and bi-nator!2. Hideous picture frames. In high school I seemed to have collected some of the ugliest picture frames, including 7 that I made in ceramics to hold pictures of the Crem Crew, but they were so heavy and bulky and shrunk so they couldn't hold pictures. Again I thought about hanging on to these to give to Crem Crew members when I saw them... But they were so ugly, time to trash!
3. A picture of my 7th grade crush, I don't know how I got the picture because I was too shy to even talk to him, but I decided that I no longer had use for the picture of the Jr. High cutie, Goodbye Aaron.
4. 20+ photo negatives. I struggled with this because its like throwing away memories that will most likely stay in a box forever, but I had boxes of pictures and a ton of unmarked developed film cartridges that I couldn't foresee myself ever redeveloping... adios.
5. Shoes... I found 2 boxes of old platform shoes, those chunky clunky shoes aren't as cute as I remembered. I did however save my Nike Descheutz from 6th grade, they still fit and I still enjoy them.
There were lots of things I held onto but I am not sure why, my yellow honor tassles from graduation, checkbooks, lame cookbooks, old t-shirts, superscratched cd's, report cards... I don't know why I would ever need these things... Maybe I ought to repack and resort and toss toss toss.
Anyways also I wanted to invite everyone to a Buh-Bye BBQ Monday July 7 and 6:30 at my parents, we want to have a chance to see everyone before we leave. We will have some food but if there is anything you would like to bring it'd be great!
Hope to see you there!!!!

I forgive you for tossing our old retainers-we are so weird/crazy/funny. I miss the good old days. I was laughing when you texted me and told me that you found them-my sister-in-law thought we were a little strange. I am going to miss you so much when you move. It was fun seeing you at the pool today!
