First Day!

Here is Kevin, excited for his first day of school! With Kev at school all day, and most of the house clean and finished, I decided it was time to find a job. The job hunt has been really frustrating as I search through classifieds and online sites. I applied to be a nanny, I applied at costco, at a gym and filled out a job placement application on-line. I felt nervous and uncomfortable with all these types of jobs. Today I took my resume into a catering company and the chef and owner both came out to "interview" me. I talked to them for over an hour and walked out with a job! I am starting Thursday in the bakery and they want to move me around from kitchen to events and even a little office work to see where I fit best. It felt good to have someone be so excited and interested in having me work.
I was thinking about the nerves you get when you start a new job, and all the changes we have made lately and it reminded me of when I started Ikea after we had just been married. All those stresses gave me some interesting dreams...
One night I was dreaming that I was at work, preparing mass amounts of scrambled eggs in bags and sheets of frozen bacon for the oh-so-famous 99 cent breakfast at IKEA. In the opening weeks we had hundreds of people coming in for breakfast, and when you are trying to serve them quickly its important to have individual pieces of bacon ready for service. In order to do this it is vital that the bacon be stirred halfway through the baking process. Well in my dream I was overwhelmed with the amounts of bacon that needed a thorough stir. In the midst of my stirring I hear my husband yelling, "what are you doing"... "Well I am stirring the bacon" obviously! That is when I realize that I am not stirring bacon at IKEA, I am hunched over my new husband pinching his upper, inner thigh area with my finger tongs. I felt so silly! I never sleep talk or walk ever, yet here I am hunched over my husband like a crazy lady! I lay back down hoping he will forget about it, but when your new wife starts picking at your privates when you are deep asleep it is not something easily forgotten. This dream always makes us laugh... I usually dream crazy like this when I am stressed... Lets see what the dreams bring this week!

Love the cheesy first day pic, hate job-hunting (so I'm thrilled you found a great one already!), and am dying over the bacon dream!

Linds! For both your and Kevin's sake, I really hope the new job doesn't cause too much stress! I am so glad that you found a job--it's such a wretched process to go through. It sounds like you will like it and fit in well. Congrats to Kev on his first day of school--his outfit was just right!
