Well we have been Texans for one week now, I can't believe its only been a week because we have done so much... But at the same time I can't believe how fast this week has passed. Each day has been so action packed, we get up around eight or nine and make home improvements all day until ten or eleven! It's exhausting but exciting to see our home change! I am going to back up to last Thursday when our adventure began.... I don't know how many of you have experienced a drive through the country in a U-haul towing a car, but it is not one I would recommend! Day one our supposedly map-quested 12 hour drive to Clovis NM took almost 17 hours! We averaged 50 mph and 9 mpg, but my car got a rockin 37 mpg! Friday was an estimated 8 hour drive to San Antonio, the drive went well until I relied too heavily on the GPS and took a slight right onto some random road, I continued to follow onto an old dirt road, knowing full well that this was not right! I felt just like Michael Scott, only I did not drive straight into a lake! I had to go against the GPS and its many reminders to make a U-turn and get back on track via our old fashioned map quest. Kev's mom, Lana, and I arrived in San Antonio earlier than the guys in the truck and we made a quick stop to wal-mart before getting to the house. The house looked great, the grass was still the greenest in the neighborhood and I felt so grateful that it rained so much when we had no one to water our lawn for us!
We have tiled and grouted the entryway, laundry room and both bathrooms and Marv, Kev's dad, is finishing up the last tile in the Kitchen, it is beautiful! We painted all the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, painted both bathrooms and laundry room and all the closets, doors and many walls. We have been back and forth between walmart and the home depot many many a time! But it is looking great. I am still behind on the unpacking because things are still a disaster, but we'll finished the big projects Monday and have a few days to get settled and unpacked, I can't wait. I am going crazy having to go to bed with such a daily mess!!! I debated whether to post pictures now or wait until I have the before and after... But I thought I'd put before and during and do the After a little later... but I am only going to do one day for now... the computer is going so slow! This is the Kitchen. The cabinets aren't all wood, they are mostly laminate, so we couldn't stain them, so we have to prime them, then paint them and then add a poly urethane coat-and there are 22 cabinets and 10 drawers... it was quite the ordeal! Kev and his dad are doing a great job with the tile!!!

Wow it is looking like a big project. I am very impressed by your remodeling skills. The tile looks like it will be beautiful. Did Kev and his dad already know how to lay tile? Glad you are there safely.
Yikes! Looks like a lot of work! But that is a good thing. I am sure it is going to turn out GREAT! I can't wait to see the end pics!
Glad you made it there in one piece! Looks like you have plenty of work cut out for you! Keep sending pics of the home improvement projects--I am impressed by your sweet grouting skills!
