Rental Car Insurance!!

We just got back from beautiful Texas and we had a great time! It felt like we were there longer than just two and a half days because we were able to see so many of our great friends and we even had time to eat delicious BBQ at the Salt Lick, and see the State Capital and see millions of bats flying out from beneath Congress Street bridge. We had a great time!!!! Kev's interview went really well. A second year student he was talking to said "BYU owns the admissions committee" the kid had 7 BYU students in his class and said that the majority of non-residents are BYU students! He even said that BYU was a doctor factory and the BYU students are well prepared for school. I was stoked to hear that! I really would love if he went to school in San Antonio! The scariest thing about the trip was that when they asked us if we wanted to purchase rental car insurance for $20 dollars a day we figured it was a waste of money, after all I would be the one behind the wheel :) Anyways the craziest things happened while I drove that weekend! Of course there were just a few close calls on my end, I was so excited to be in my old areas that I would get distracted by new buildings or familiar favorites and I didn't notice stopped cars in front of me. Thank goodness for a scared and overly alert husband!! But then there were some wild things completely out of my control... For example, an elderly lady backing up and keeps backing up even though I am behind her, or a diesel carrying recycled boxes passes me and a cardboard box comes flying right towards me and flies over my roof, or the craziest was an oncoming trucks shell fell off the truck right as we pass!! how does that happen! I think it was a sign to purchase insurance next time, just to be safe!

yes --- you should always purchase insurance -- not the most expensive, but at least something. It was great to talk to you today, as always, and i am so excited for you guys that the interviews went well -- i can't wait to see where you end up (although i always wish it could be closer to us)

xoxoxo

Linds something that Jon and I have figured out from traveling and renting cars a lot is that some credit cards will insure the rental car if you use that card to rent it. My triple A VISA card does at least. So then you don't have to pay the extra each day for the insurance because you are covered with your credit card. I am glad you didn't get in any accidents though...sounds like you had some close calls.
I am so glad you got to go back to Texas together. How fun if you ended up there for school!

I am glad that things went so well-besides the crazy car experiences. I keep checking your blog to hear about your trip. We need to get together sometime soon!
