Day Off!

Sixteen days ago I started my internship in the Sundance bake shop. It has been so fun, I do something new everyday and am learning and re learning a lot! However between Sundance and Culinary Crafts I have worked the past fifteen days and was so excited for my day off! Today is a day of rest and fun. I am making a Spiderman cake for Jacks birthday, doing some laundry and flipping through some magazines trying to put together a fun and delicious Valentines dinner. It is nice to just relax! Despite the busy weeks and long hours (I worked about 85 hours last week!) there were several things that kept me laughing and smiling through the work.

1. Kev. He has been so great and understanding. On Tuesday I was scheduled on an event at the Olympic park all by myself, Kev had the day off and offered to come with me on the event to keep me company. It was so nice of him and I was so grateful because it ended up being really stressful and he helped out so much! The nice thing about going to work at 5am is that I am able to have nights off so we do get to have dinner and hang out every night almost.

2. Espanol. My amigos at work no hablan mucho english. Yo aprendo mas espanol todo los dias. Mi espanol no es bueno, pero recuerdo un poco. Basically I am not very good but I am remembering bits and peices from past spanish classes and I am getting better! It's been fun to force myself to speak it.

3. The Dryer W0nder. Last week I was in a hurry to get ready to meet my friends for lunch. I threw a pair of jeans and a pair of chef pants in the dryer. When I checked on them this is what I found... The legs of my pants had twisted and tied themselves in a square knot! It was a funny mystery to me that this could happen!

4. Avalanches. So far waking up almost everyday by 4:15 hasn't been as bad as I expected, and for the most part the roads haven't been too scary. But this has been a snowy week and I don't know if it will ever stop. Wednesday I was driving to work and the canyons were closed due to avalanches. I called my boss and she said she thought it should be opening up so to just wait at the canyon gas station. At five fifteen she called me and said there were some crazy avanlanches and I should go home and go back to bed and try to come back at nine. I got two and a half more hours of precious sleep, and because of avalanches I have gotten my work time pushed back two other times! I am not necessarily glad for the avalanches but I am glad for the sleep!

Sounds like things are going great. I am a bit jealous of your internship opportunity. And I also think it's crazy what the drier can do to clothes. Nuts.
