My Sweet Grandma

About a week ago I got a sad phone call from my dad saying that my Grandma wasn't doing well at all. She has been up and down for a few months now, but this time seemed like the end. I was laying in bed the other night and was thinking about many of the fond memories I have of her and it cheered me up.
My Grandma was a great cook and she loved to cook with cream of chicken soup, just smelling it makes me think of her house and how excited we always were to get dinner at Grandma's.
My Grandma lived just about a mile away and when my parents were gone we could always call her to come to the rescue if someone got hurt or if Lisa and Dave were chasing each other with knives.
My Grandma has the best sledding hill around and we used to go sledding and she would watch us from the window on the deck. She would make us hot chocolate while our clothes dried in her dryer.
We loved going over every Sunday for visits and she would always try to find a treat for us, a lot of times it was orange and vanilla swirl ice cream cones, sometimes it was chocolates or jelly beans or Popsicles, she loved to pass stuff out for us to eat.
My Grandma was the sweetest lady, I never heard her scold us or get angry or upset that we were making a mess.
She vacuumed her giant living room so perfectly you could see the perfect triangle pattern in the whole room without any foot prints, I don't know how she did it!
She was so beautiful, she always dressed nice in matching sweaters and brooches and her hair and make up done nice. She always looked nice, even when we dropped in unexpectedly!
My Grandma would put butter on tuna sandwiches and keep them in the fridge, everything from her fridge tasted better, even the carrots and celery ( Kate and I decided that she made it with love and it made a difference!).
We loved to get her to play cards with us because to shuffle them she would throw them in the air and scatter them on the floor.
She would buy all our birthday presents in advance and keep them in a hiding spot with post it notes saying who they were for, sometimes we would find them and get excited.
Every time we left she would stand at the front door and wave until we couldn't see her.
She made the best jello salad and canned peaches, sometimes when Scott or Spencer were sick she would make them their own jello and they were the envy of all!
She loved having lots of visitors over and we would all crowd in the family room in a big circle and visit. She would just smile and watch everyone and she always looked so happy!
On the counter next to her fridge there was always a little bowl of snacks for visitors. Sometimes there were cheese puffs, sometimes nuts, sometimes club crackers. Most of the time it was stale, all of the time it was delicious!
She and my Grandpa were a great couple, they were married like 65 years and you could tell they were still in love as ever. They were so cute, he is so big and she is so small, but they took good care of each other and I am grateful for their example of love.
I could go on and on! I love my Grandma so much! She passed away today and I will miss her so much, I feel so blessed to have grown up close to her, and to learn from her. She was amazing!
